Healing Is God’s Will
It has to be God’s will to heal you, because healing is in God’s redemptive plan.
The great redemptive chapter of Isaiah 53 talks about the death of Jesus on the cross. Isaiah prophesied some 700 years before Christ exactly what Jesus did for the world upon that cross. Isaiah says in verses: Isa 53:4-5
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
We all know that when Jesus hung upon that cross that he took our sins and transgressions, because it has been preached.
The word ‘griefs’ in verse 4 is also translated disease and sickness and the word ‘sorrows’ is translated pains. But really, Matthew offers the inspired translation of Isaiah 53:4. Matt 8:17
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
So Jesus not only took our sins and transgressions, but he also took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses. What Jesus did on that cross was for ALL of us.
Peter, in looking back on the cross says it this way: 1 Peter 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
…by whose stripes ye WERE healed. Were is past tense…something He’s already done. Healing is a gift just like salvation is a gift and it’s up to you and me to simply receive it.
